With the new EU rules on veterinary medicines published in the EU Official Journal in January, AnimalhealthEurope was ready to get our teeth into what the revisions will mean for licencing animal health products in Europe when it comes into force in 2022.

At a conference hosted jointly by the association and consultants Klifovet end of January, industry and regulators reviewed the changing landscape to discuss how this will affect business planning. Ivo Claassen, Head of Veterinary Medicines at the European Medicines Agency also outlined the work that needs to be done on the numerous implementing measures and scientific advice to be delivered within the next 6- 7 months. To help animal medicines companies guide their way through the changes AnimalhealthEurope has published a brochure setting out the updated marketing authorisation procedures.

Despite these high standards and the strong will of the livestock chain to continue improving, conversations and reporting on livestock farming gives a growing impression of people feeling fed-up with our current food system.

We will debate the why, how and wherefore at our event on 6 June, so save the date now and follow us on Twitter for more info!
