#PetPower - a pet-friendly virtual event

October 01 2020 Virtual

World Animal Day is approaching fast. On October 1st, just ahead of this important day, we would love you to join a discussion about the importance of pets in our lives. How they made life better during the lockdown. How they assist us in life and health. And how we can improve wellbeing for both, pets and people.

When: 1 October, from 2-3PM Brussels time

We are joining together with the pet food association FEDIAF to organise a virtual event so we can mark this important day together.

Registration is now open! So book your spot and be sure to join in the #PetPower conversation.

Our panel of experts include:

  • MEP Petras Auštrevičius, VP of the Animal Welfare Intergroup: sharing views on the positive role pets play in society and the importance of better care for pets
  • IAHAIO President, Dr. Marie-José Enders-Slegers: talking about Human-Animal bond research, and the need for the relationship between pets and people to be a two-way street
  • Medical Detection Dogs CEO, Dr Claire Guest: speaking about the power of dogs for detecting human diseases and the COVID-19 Detection Dogs in training
  • EU Dog and Cat Alliance chair, Suzie Carley: discussing responsible pet ownership, why ‘A dog is for life, not just for lockdown’ and EU policy for pets.

The Telegraph’s Brussels correspondent James Crisp will moderate the discussion.

This event builds on the long-term work of AnimalhealthEurope and FEDIAF in promoting the importance of responsible pet ownership and highlighting the very important role pets play in society. Moving forward, we’ll be exploring the science behind this human-animal bond further, and we hope that you – and your pets – can be with us as we take our first steps!
